Cristian Măcelaru conducts...
On his doctor’s advice, Robin Ticciati is cancelling his involvement in the concerts of the Symphony Orchestra of the Bayerische Rundfunk on the 13th and 14th of July 2018. This also affects the concert at the Kissinger Sommer on the 14th of July. However, in Cristian Măcelaru we have fortunately found a top-notch conductor to step in at both concerts.
Cristian Măcelaru, who has been the conductor for the Cabrillo-Festival of Contemporary Music since 2017, is regarded as a rising star in the current conductor scene. 2017 has been an extremely successful year with countless international performances, until August of 2017 Cristian Măcelaru had been Conductor in Residence at the Philadelphia Orchestra.
The program of the Kissinger Sommer will remain unchanged except for Leonard Bernstein’s virtuosic overture to “Candide”, which we have added as an introduction.
Leonard Bernstein: Overture to “Candide”
Robert Schumann: Concerto for violin and orchestra D minor
Antonin Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 E minor op. 95 (“From the New World”)
