Richard Goode piano

Joseph Haydn: Sonata for keyboard instrument A major, Hob. XVI: 26, L. 41
Joseph Haydn: Sonata for keyboard instrument D major, Hob. XVI: 24, L. 39
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Rondo for piano A minor KV 511
Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata for piano No. 28 A major op. 101
Claude Debussy: “Images”, Book 2, L. 111
Claude Debussy: from “Estampes”, L. 100: “La soirée dans Grenade”
Claude Debussy: Préludes (selection from Book 1 and 2)

The expression and emotional power of Richard Goode’s piano performances are legendary. The American pianist, taught by Rudolf Serkin, does not visit Europe often. In Bad Kissingen he gives a two-fold performance: An overview of Vienna Classical from Joseph Haydn’s 1773 sonatas to Mozart and Beethoven’s late works followed by Debussy’s crystal clear language of sound. Piano music “painted in nature’s image” and yet distant from tone painting.
