Bad Bocklet, Museen Schloss Aschach

Castle Aschach lies 8 km away from Bad Kissingen in the Saaletal near Bad Bocklet. The counts of Henneberg had the medieval castle built in the 12th century. It was destroyed multiple times throughout the 16th century. After it was rebuilt by the prince-bishops of Würzburg it became their hunting lodge and seat of power. From 1874 onwards it served as the summer residence of the counts of Luxburg. In 1955 it had been gifted to the principality of Lower Franconia together with the valuable furnishing and collections inside. Today the castle is a popular tourist destination with three museums, a park, a café and restaurant.
