Kissinger Sommer – International Music Festival

The Kissinger Sommer is one of the most renowned music festivals in Europe – in one of the most beautiful spa towns in the world. Thanks to the festival, which takes place every year for four and a half weeks in June and July, the small town in Lower Franconia has a musical life music life that is on a par with that of a large metropolis.

World-class concerts

World-class symphony and chamber music concerts take centre stage at the Kissinger Sommer. Orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra are regular guests here, with conductors such as Manfred Honeck, Jakub Hrůša, Paavo Järvi, Joana Mallwitz, Kent Nagano and Sir Simon Rattle at the podium. With pianists such as Leif Ove Andsnes, Jan Lisiecki, Igor Levit or Grigory Sokolov, violin stars such as Lisa Batiashvili, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Julia Fischer, Patricia Kopatchinskaja or Truls Mørk, Daniel Müller-Schott or Sol Gabetta on the cello, clarinettist Sabine Meyer or mandolin virtuoso Avi Avital and numerous great voices, the »who's who« of the concert world will be playing at Kissinger Sommer.

With opera performances, recitals, chanson programmes, jazz concerts, open-air events, the »Symphonic Mob« play-along orchestra and the free »Prélude« concerts all over the town, the Kissinger Sommer offers a broad, varied and top-class musical programme for music lovers and anyone who wants to become one.
